Willy Leung (1973) lives and draws in Antwerp. Mainly self-taught, he gets his inspiration from the paintings of Bruegel, Miyazaki’s movies and Shaun Tan’s illustrations. He takes elements from fairytale, fantasy and childhood worlds, adds some storytelling and creates little charming scenes full of kind creatures and brave children. Most of his work consists of traditional ink drawings, but he is now shifting to digital painting (Procreate on the iPad). For this exhibit, he made Between the River and the Moon, referring to the in-between world where most of his drawings take place.
