VrijFormaat is the creative duo of Joke and Esther, two Dutch designers who love to explore illustration and printmaking through analog and digital methods. From drawing to embroidery, sewing to risograph printing, their work is always infused with warmth, playfulness, and bold visual identity. Their love of risography led them to purchase their own machine, allowing them to experiment freely and share their colorful imagination with the world.

Risography is a technique where you use a duplicating machine to print colours separately, layer by layer. The result is somewhat reminiscent of screen printing. Risography uses semi-transparent inks based on vegetable oil (soy or rice). Due to the technology, each print is slightly different, which makes each riso print unique.
