info
Joke and Esther are the creative forces behind VrijFormaat. Graphic design is the focus, as it is with their other project, but here they explore all kinds of design and illustration within various techniques. They draw, paint, embroid, sew, print, and work both analog and digital. And since they bought their own risograph, they have been captivated by this inspiring technique.
Risography is a technique where you use a duplicating machine to print colours separately, layer by layer. The result is somewhat reminiscent of screen printing. Risography uses semi-transparent inks based on vegetable oil (soy or rice). Due to the technology, each print is slightly different, which makes each riso print unique.
