Ben Coosmans is a screenprint and graphic artist with street art influences. His work draws its inspiration from the traces left in public spaces by man or time, which change their aesthetic. He calls them ‘urban textures’. Traces that are generally considered to be damage or vandalism are, in his eyes, poetic chaos. He extracts these textures from their initial context in order to integrate them into his compositions like a visual sampler, echoing the punk culture, graffiti and urban music of the ‘90s.
